As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 10 years’ experience counseling and advising children, teens, and adults, I have a passion to help others heal from challenges and develop truly fulfilling lifes.
CORE BELIEFS
- “The best way out is always through.”—Robert Frost. When we push emotions down, they have a sneaky way of leaking through in our relationships and life in general. Working through these challenging emotions–while developing skills to keep from getting “stuck” in them–is essential for moving toward greater health.
- We are all imperfect. Part of the struggle to become more calm and confident is in accepting all of who we are—our best parts, and those we attempt to hide. Shame is often a key component that intensifies our anxiety, sadness, or other difficult feelings and prevents us from moving through them.
- Avoidance in the short term feels like an easier path, but leads to less growth and more of the same. Stepping out of our comfort zone is essential to most changes that we seek.
CHOOSING A THERAPIST
Research suggests that the most important component of therapy is the fit you experience with your therapist, regardless of their approach. Through an initial phone consultation, you can begin to assess whether we are a good fit to work together and whether you feel like eventually, you or your family member can develop the trust needed to talk about what’s most important.
My approach is catered to the individual, helping clients develop skills to manage their emotions through supportive talk therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness. With children and teens, I incorporate a creative use of play, crafts, and art. For all individuals, I offer an open, accepting, and supportive environment to explore patterns that hold you, your child, or teen back from being one’s best self.
